Life is simple for 12–year-old Chanda until the death of her new-born sister prompts a rumor to spread through her small South African village, destroying her family and forcing her mother to flee. Suspecting that the community’s irrational ostracism has to do with her family's misfortunes, Chanda demands answers but is met with stubborn silence.
