July's Makers Swap
We are headed outside for this month's swap!
Pop your lawn chairs back in the car and grab your tickets! Whether you are a seasoned swapper or brand new to the community, we cannot wait to see you.
If you've never been to a Makers Swap, the concept is beautifully simple: bring something you have made with your hands, grown in your garden, or a service you can offer, and trade it for treasures from others. There is no money exchanged, and perfection is absolutely not required! Just bring your willingness to share your talents and passion projects.
A Few Insights for New Swappers
All Are Welcome: Bring a friend, a neighbour, or the whole family! Just be sure to grab your tickets ahead of time on Eventbrite.
Bring What You Can: Everyone brings what they feel comfortable giving. There are no limitations or rigid expectations. We believe fairness means sharing within your means—and somehow, it always results in amazing generosity and abundance!
The Common Table: Everything brought to the swap goes onto a shared table. After we spend some time hanging out and getting to know each other, everyone will take turns selecting items from the table—one item at a time—until you feel you've taken what is "fair" to the community.
Need some inspiration? Popular trade items include preserves, pickles, jam, kombucha, soaps, plants, baked goods, jewelry, leather crafts, wood carvings, dog treats, paintings, or even vouchers for services like haircuts, massages, or a home-cooked meal. Everything under the sun counts!
Supporting Our Community Pantry
Our community pantry at 43 Lawrencetown Lane is increasingly active right now, and we would deeply appreciate it if you could bring a few pantry items to the swap.
We were recently gifted a fridge, so we can now accept both dry and cold items:
Dry Goods: Crackers, rice, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pasta sauces, and canned goods (pasta, meats, veggies).
Cold Goods: Milk, cream, margarine, yogurt, and cheese.
