For Immediate Release, Wolfville, NS – August 5, 2026 – Harvest Gallery is pleased to present Otherwise, a thought-provoking group exhibition featuring Nova Scotia artists Bonnie Baker, Sheri Hancock, Sydney Lancaster & Juie Rosvall. On view from August 15 through September 13, 2026. The exhibition explores transformation, not only of materials, but of perspective, memory, place, and process.
“Perhaps it is stating the obvious, but as artists, we are all in the business of transformation. Our ideas become images or objects. We carve plates, etch surfaces, mix colour, manipulate & combine materials to make new things.
Inherent in that process is the ability to see things not as they are, but in their potential to be otherwise. The materials we each use in our work have their own stories to tell and inform what we do and how.
The process of making also allows us to weave our own stories into the result. We transform and are transformed in turn; both art and artist are artifacts of this constant becoming.”
This collection of new work from four Annapolis-Valley based artists revels in texture and process. Place and history inform the artists' approach. The transformations of time, awareness of tradition, craft, and the relationships to (and between) materials inform this exhibition, revealing each artist's unique approach to seeing other-wise.
Bonnie Baker | Alchemy of Plants challenges ideas of "native" and "invasive" species through cameraless photographic processes that collaborate with nature. Her work encourages viewers to reconsider overlooked plants and our evolving relationship with the landscapes we shape.
Sheri Hancock | Inspired by Nova Scotia's eastern shore, Sheri Hancock's layered solar plate & drypoint prints explore memory, love, and loss. Her work reflects on how landscapes become intertwined with identity while revealing enduring cycles of change and renewal.
Sydney Lancaster | Sydney Lancaster combines found objects, rust prints, and cyanotypes to uncover the histories embedded in the Minas Basin landscape. Her work transforms these traces into quiet reflections on memory, renewal, and our connection to place.
Julie Rosvall | In I am Torn & I am Mended, Julie Rosvall transforms damaged printmaking proofs into works that celebrate repair and resilience. Inspired by visible mending, she reframes imperfections as symbols of care, renewal, and second chances.
An opening reception will take place on Saturday, August 15th, from 1–3 PM. The exhibition is mounted in the gallery’s lower level. Join us in celebrating these new bodies of work, meet the artists, and enjoy light refreshments.
