ARTs Tuesdays are a great opportunity to experience music, art and drama in bite-sized segments. Join us from 7pm on the third tuesday of every month to enjoy a variety of local and visiting talent. ARTs Tuesday is funded by a Cultural Activities Program grant from the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. The program takes place at ARTsPLACE, 396 St. George Street, in Annapolis Royal. Music begins at 7:00, and the program usually runs less than two hours. Admission is by donation.

October ARTs Tuesday Will Be A Trip
October ARTs Tuesday will take you from the American Deep South to Europe, from real-life to fantasy.
Music for the program will be by The Blue Groove, a local acoustic trio who play blues with a rock twist. Blues music, which draws from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and ballads of the African-American communities of the Deep South in the late 19th century, is a cultural snapshot in itself.
In the arts segment of the program, Friederike Mittellehner (Fritzi) will introduce you to the “still life theatre” of her dressed doll sculptures. Mittellehner apprenticed with sculptor and painter Franz Tengg in Salzburg and holds a diploma in stage design from the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna. She made and exhibited her elaborately costumed dolls in Europe prior to moving to Nova Scotia in 1996, where she owns and operates Clementsport Antiques.
The evening will end on a humorous note as Brian Dickinson, Fred Fletcher and Derek Hawkins of the Annapolis District Drama Group present a “Stanley Holloway Quartet.” (Holloway, an English stage and film actor, comedian, singer, poet and monologist, is perhaps best-loved for Albert and the Lion.)
Remaining scheduled dates:
November 15, 2011
January 17, 2012
February 21, 2012
March 20, 2012
April 17, 2012
