Québec writer/director Guy Édoin makes a strong mark with this immersive drama set in the Eastern Townships, a story of a family of struggling dairy farmers over the course of one long dry summer. Life is not easy for the Santerres: the well is running dry, debts are mounting and then a major tragedy strikes, which changes their lives forever. Beautifully composed scenes and a phenomenal sound design of crickets, cicadas, wind and water enhance this powerful tale of survival. “Impec-cable craft. . .lush photography in velvety greens, blues and yellows.” Variety
