Set in India, this ambitious documentary focuses on two groups of young women looking for a way out of second-class citizenry. Both, not as dissimilar as they first seem–Miss India pageant contestants from a beauty boot camp, and Hindu recruits undergoing ideological and military training at a militant fundamentalist camp– desperately seek emancipation through highly submissive rituals.
