From toe-tapping music to intriguing crocheted playgrounds (yes, really) to humorous dramatic sketches, ARTs Tuesday promises to entertain and intrigue. This popular monthly program, presented by the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council (ARCAC), features half hour segments of live music, art and drama with breaks between for scrumptious homemade desserts and informal socializing.
The program gets underway with music by Round Hill fiddler/violinist Daniel Froese. Dan, who started playing violin at age 6, moves effortlessly from classic to Celtic music, and his program will include a number of his new compositions as well.
Following a short break for refreshments, the program takes on a playful atmosphere as Bridgetown artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam talks about her fantastic, colourful full-sized crocheted playground installations. A native of Japan, Horiuchi MacAdam has exhibited work in museums and galleries in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Southeast Asia over the past 40 years. Her one-of-a-kind hand-crocheted playground structures are installed in museums and parks in Japan, Korea and Spain. She is currently a member of the textiles faculty at NSCAD.
Following another short break, members of the Annapolis District Drama Group will present two light-hearted short plays: One True Gift, written by Rod McFadden and featuring Flora Hall and Henry Bent; and The Charm of the British, written by Laura Cotton and featuring Grace and Freeman Butland.
