Pinot & Augustine
A sure-fire 45-minute crowd-pleaser, Pinot & Augustine is a classic, family-friendly clown duo inspired by the golden age of Circus. Pinot is the authoritarian clown in fancy clothes and white cone hat. Augustine is the appealing red-nosed bumbler who punctures his pomposity. Their show bubbles over with physical comedy, virtuosity and musical surprises from the sublime to the ridiculous: from lyrical melodies on a musical saw to pratfalls and a whoopee cushion.
Happenstance Theater is a professional company committed to devising and producing original, performer-created visual, poetic Theatre. With the simplest means we seek to elevate the moment when the performers and audience meet, to lift the encounter beyond the daily and pedestrian into the realms of dreams, poetry, and art. Meaning is often found by happenstance.
Happenstance Theater has appeared at numerous venues including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Delegation of the European Union, the Peabody Essex Museum, the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian Discovery Theatre, the Strathmore Center for the Arts, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the New York Clown Theatre Festival, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, QuestFest, Round House Theatre, and the Capital Fringe Festival.
