French Riviera (1915): A lush atmospheric drama of celebrated Impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, declining at age 74, and his middle son Jean (who became the great filmmaker (Grand Illusion, Rules of the Game)), returning to convalesce from a WWI injury. Enter young Andrée, full of life, radiantly beautiful, the final model and wellspring of elder Renoir’s rejuvenation. Young Jean also falls under her spell. With both Renoirs smitten their home reverberates with familial intrigue. In a fascinating moment of change, one century gives way to the next, and an artistic torch passes from father to son.
