Up Dog is a 3-piece folk-rock band that plays the music of Jack McDonald. Jack's Levon Helm tribute is actually 3 songs: "Turkey Scratch", which is the name of Levon Helm's hometown; "Dance The Beat Along", which is the way in which a more experienced drummer friend of Levon's described what a good drummer should do; and "Tooth & Nail", which is about the feud between Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm over royalties and song credits for The Band's songs. A recording of the Levon Helm tribute will be release on Up Dog's debut CD later this year.
