A Portuguese immigrant couple, Maria and José, have lived and worked in Paris for 30 years, raising their Parisian-born children. Inhabiting a modest ground floor flat in a chic Paris apartment building where Maria is the highly valued concierge, José is equally indispensible to his boss as a building site foreman. Suddenly they inherit a family winery but only if they return to Portugal, and while they are elated, they also struggle about how to share their good news. They are universally liked in their adopted community and before long everyone is working behind the scenes to prevent them from leaving. A sleeper French box office hit, audiences have enthusiastically embraced this warm-hearted, cross-cultural comedy.
