The Singing Revolution is a moving documentary record of how the Estonian people strategically and willfully, sung their way to freedom--and helped topple an empire along the way. It chronicles five years of unique and peaceful protests between 1987 and 1991, when hundreds of thousands of Estonians came together to sing forbidden patriotic songs in a musical declaration of independence from the USSR. Four years in the making, this film is an intensely human testament to the power of hope and the strength of song.

The film will be introduced by Dr. David Duke, an engaging and inspiring history professor from Acadia University who specializes in the history of Russia and the USSR. Dr. Duke will also lead a public discussion and respond to questions following the screening.
