Back Home Again -The Songs of John Denver is a musical tribute to one of the most popular musical artists of all time. Covering the most loved songs of Denver’s thirty-two year career, this is a highly entertaining show for all ages.
Featuring the voice of David Bradshaw, he is backed by a four-piece band that includes musical director/guitarist Greg Simm, bassist Mike Farrington Sr, keyboardist Julia Weir and the tasteful percussion of Michael Swinimer.
The show includes twenty-two of Denver’s most loved songs with a couple of surprises along the way. Relive the magic of Denver’s music that includes many hits that went to Billboard #1 throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s.
David Bradshaw is a native to Corner Brook, Newfoundland and now firmly rooted in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A singer-songwriter who hand-crafts a distinctly Maritime blend of folk, country, rock, blues, bluegrass and Celtic music. His strong, clear voice is supported by sure-handed guitar picking and lively, rustic-tinged fiddling. In addition to performing and recording his own repertoire of original and traditional music, David adds his voice and multi-instrumental talents to the popular Halifax-based trio Grassmarket. David’s debut CD, No Place (2008) was nominated for a Music Nova Scotia award. His sophomore CD, Songs from the Former County, was released in the summer of 2014.
Mike Farrington (bass, harmonica, vocals) has been a presence on the Canadian music scene for over forty years. Audiences will remember Mike from previous Ship’s Co musical tributes to Johnny Cash, Hank Snow and patsy Cline. He is best known these day for his musical contributions on the hit CBC comedy show “ This Hour Has 22 minutes”.
Mike Swinimer (drums) from Windsor NS is product of the Windsor Regional High School music project under the direction of Brian Johnston. For a number of years he was the drummer for both the Centennial Dixieland Band and the Acadia University Jazz Band. He is currently performing and recording with a variety of groups in the Halifax area.
Julia Weir (keyboards, vocals) is best known these days for her work with her indie folk/rock group “Quiet Parade”. She has also been involved for a number of years with the annual musical productions at St Peter’s church in Dartmouth, NS.
Greg Simm – Musical Director (guitar, mandolin, banjo) is a Windsor born, Dartmouth based musician who is well known on the Canadian music scene as a musician, producer and musical director. He is currently involved with “Music For The Future” a program designed to teach music to Inuit youth on and around Baffin Island NU.
