Local artist Lynnea Rose is hitting the stage Oct 1st to celebrate the launch of her brand new album "Rocking Chair", performing along side some of Nova Scotia's best musicians:
Maritime folk songstress Lynnea Rose to release her sophomore album Rocking Chair, a collection of finely crafted folk songs and shanties featuring an all star cast of musicians and producer/engineer duo Tom Terrell & Karl Falkenham.
Lynnea's sophomore album is not merely a collection of solid, trad infused folk songs, Rocking Chair is a musical collaboration with some of the country's finest and freakiest musicians and a giant step in a new direction. Lynnea, along with producer Tom Terrell, have assembled a bizarre and brilliant group of musicians and clearly given them free reign. The result is a diverse album, obviously fronted and held together by the unmistakable east coast country girl and granddaughter of a fisherman but infused with bona fide bluegrass,Lynnea Rose, jazz manouche, country & folk sounds and sensibilities. Sinister sea shanties, folk ballads, Balkan swing and modern bluegrass are among the themes explored on Rocking Chair. The album veers and dips along the spectrum of traditional musical territory but maintains a consistent air of authenticity and individuality from start to finish. Lynnea Rose weaves together a colourful and cohesive tapestry and sets the listener at ease with her sweet voice and graceful lyrical style.
A maritimer through and through, Lynnea Rose was born in Nova Scotia and raised by Nova Scotian’s who were born and raised in Nova Scotia - you get the point.Lynnea's songs reminisce about long winters and hard times both past and present and explore the paradox of an eighth generation maritimer; The familiarity of a longstanding traditional and cultural belonging and a desire for change.
