November 6–8, 2009. A film festival in Wolfville. It’s all about food. Food for sustenance. Food for thought. Food for pleasure.

Eleven cinematic screenings cover a wide variety of food-related topics, from the purely entertaining and beautiful Babette’s Feast to the informative and provocative children’s film What’s on Your Plate; from the classic Italian-made Tree of Wooden Clogs to the recent hard-hitting documentary The End of the Line. This year’s films originate in Denmark, Italy, New Zealand, UK, USA, and Nova Scotia.

Complementary events include opening and closing ceremonies, an opening gala, school lunch demonstration, wine-tasting (California versus Nova Scotia), the Saturday Wolfville Farmers’ Market, panel discussions, and a harvest dinner.

This festival celebrates the diversity of agricultural activity and production in Nova Scotia. The festival venue, the Annapolis Valley, is known for its culture, food, and wines.
The primary sponsor is Slow Food Nova Scotia.

Slow Food is an international movement with about 100,000 members. It is dedicated to good, clean, and fairly produced food. Slow Food promotes healthy and convivial eating, support for local food producers and traditions, and the role of consumers as co-producers. Slow Food Nova Scotia has a growing membership of approximately 100. The group regularly visits and celebrates Nova Scotia food producers.
