Get caught up in the World Wide Web! How can it work for your family research? Does everything come at a financial cost? How much of the information on the internet can a researcher believe? What about blogs and podcasts – are they of value? DNA is it the next big genealogical breakthrough? These and other issues related to using the internet for genealogy work will be explored. This workshop will be a mixture of instruction and hands on work with various websites and internet resources. Bring your laptop or tablet for this event!
DOROTHY OUTHOUSE is a long-time resident of Long Island with over eight generations of multiple family roots within Digby County. Fascinated by family stories and photographs of multiple family generations held by her maternal grandmother, she has been digging through her family tree for over forty years. Dorothy has taken numerous workshops related to genealogy and has certificates related to both museum and archival related studies. She was the 2006 recipient of the Council of Nova Scotia Archives’ “Anna Hamilton Award” for outstanding archival volunteer service and currently works with Islands Historical Society in Freeport, Nova Scotia.
