Comedian Chris Rock’s special Jury Prize winner (Sundance) delves into everything there is to know about black people and their hair. When his adorable 5-year-old asked, “Why don’t I have good hair," Rock was moved to explore what makes hair appealing. Rock is funny, but also an affable and intelligent host in an accessible, breezy and highly informative documentary. Through seamless transitions across continents to salons, barbershops, manufacturing plants and an Indian temple, Rock garners enlightening interviews with workers, customers, artists and celebrities alike. The result is “both social commentary and pure delight.”
