Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal opens with DANCE ON FILM, featuring "Mr. Gaga", the spectacular documentary on the life and art of Ohad Naharin.
Artistic director of one of the world’s hottest dance companies, Batsheva Dance, and choreographic super star, Ohad Naharin is the inventor of Gaga, a multisensory, challenging movement vocabulary that inspires dancers to move beyond familiar physical limits and expand their imaginations.
The product of an eight-year collaboration between director Tomar Heymann and Naharin, the film is an intimate study that captures the choreographer’s work in stunning detail. Characterizing Naharin as rough, demanding, exceptional and mesmerizing, the film underlines the toll that his dedication to his art has taken on family, dancers and choreographer alike.
