Feb 9, 2018 7:30 PM at the Al Whittle Theatre is the place to beat those winter blahs as ECMA award winner, Erin Costelo performs one of the most loved albums of all-time, Carole King's Tapestry. Along with being selected Album of the Year, it also received Grammys for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year ("It's Too Late"), and Song of the Year ("You've Got a Friend"), making King the first solo female artist to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year, and the first woman to win the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
Erin will perform the ENTIRE album in addition to songs of her own. Don't miss this very special evening, tickets won't last long!
Erin Costelo is an artist who is mining the truth - through writing, arranging, producing and masterful live performance. With a voice unlike any other in Canada, she has the ability to successfully float between genres and stages, her unwavering vision continuously offering the best sound and voice to a feeling, idea or story. With songs that sound like they were written by your heroes, she’s had the opportunity to open for heroes like Mavis Staples, Dr. John and Bettye Lavette and has recently performed with Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble Band.
Her latest, self-produced album Down Below, the Status Quo recently won Solo Recording of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards and is nominated for FOUR ECMAs including Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Solo Recording of the Year and a WIN for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. It is a magical, moonlight-soaked reverie, filled with drama and intensity; in one moment a defiant cry and in the next a desperate whisper. It has been described as "embodying the spirit of Nina Simone" and "conjuring the ghost of Donny Hathaway".
