THE POST
Academy Award Nominee: Best Picture
Steven Spielberg directs Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in The Post, a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham, the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee, as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents.
The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths to light.
PG-13 | 1h 56min | Biography, Drama, History
Spielberg offers a tight, lucid and highly satisfying account of the Pentagon Papers from the point of view of the Post and its publisher, Kay Graham.
–The Globe and Mail
The standout is Bob Odenkirk as Ben Bagdikian, the kind of old-school reporter who wears out the soles of his shoes tracking down a scoop.
– The Chicago Sun Times
This is Streep’s movie, and not because she is typically excellent. She owns it because Graham is the only character on a journey of self-discovery.
- The London Evening Standard
