From The CHRONICLE HERALD:

"Shakespeare on Trial is a highly entertaining, funny play that puts the boots to the notion that Shakespeare is dull.

Jeremy Webb launches the romp as a stern barrister putting “William Margaret Shakespeare" on trial for being irrelevant to today’s world. In fact, it turns out Shakespeare’s characters are leaving his plays and he, him self, is feeling woozy.

When Shakespeare, wonder fully played by Simon Henderson as a proud, playful and passionate creature, opens the Riverside edition of his collected plays, four characters spring to life.

Shakespeare on Trial is full of variety as each of the four char acters leads the show in a differ ent direction, Macbeth into a hot-blooded sword fight, Hamlet into a genuinely moving scene with Shakespeare forced to play Ophelia, Iago into a game show on Shakespearean trivia hosted by Iago’s alter ego of “Mr. Chuckles" and Juliet in a hilarious, interactive finale.

A sure bet for all ages, Shakespeare on Trial was directed by Martha Irving. Both actors use their eyes remarkably, their abundant powers of expression and quick wits for lively adlibbing and deep sincerity. Apart from being naturally comic, they are genuinely convincing— Webb as the great Shake spearean characters speaking those beautiful, famous lines and Henderson as the impassioned Shakespeare nobly defending iambic pentameter and the validity of his work."
