Playing piano, guitar and ukulele, award-winning songwriter Katrina Bishop will be singing original songs about wine and cheese, bad drivers, sociopaths, hopscotch, cowboys, housework, math, bubbles, love, loss, muffins, puppeteers, luminesce invertebrates and rain (among other things).
Coming from a very diverse musical background, Katrina likes to mix elements of Pop, Jazz, Funk, Folk, A Cappella and Musical Theatre, with a little Celtic and Country thrown in for extra fun.
Katrina released her album, 'Hopscotch', earlier this year, and it has received airplay and accolades in niche radio throughout Canada, the U.S., Japan, Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe, along with stations in Africa and Costa Rica.
The 10-song LP features a dream-team of musicians made up of drummer Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, Matthew Good), bassist Jamey Koch (Jann Arden), synthesizer maestro John Webster (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi) and guitarist Tony Koch (Tony Koch and the AltNews Band). The album was recorded and mixed at Vancouver's Warehouse Studio by Jamey Koch (Tragically Hip, Ron Sexsmith) and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York by Greg Calbi (John Mayer, Norah Jones).
Katrina is currently working with 3AM Design in Toronto to produce an animated video for her song 'Done With You', and is aiming for a September video release.
Katrina's concert at Acadia Cinema's Al Whittle Theatre will begin with an opening set by 2016 ECMA Nominee Jeff Jodrey, who writes and plays amazing melodic fingerstyle guitar. A superb and transportive player, and an all-round super nice guy, this is a great chance to catch Jeff live in the Valley.
