Pauline Gibson is a junior doctor, who becomes the face of a campaign to save her local hospital. This leads to her becoming an independent MP, but in Parliament, she crosses paths with her university boyfriend, Jack Gould, a stalwart Labour loyalist.
As pressure mounts on her to compromise her integrity and run for leadership of the Labour party, Pauline faces an agonising decision...
