Doors open at 1:15pm
An afternoon of amazing Blues, Jazz, Roots and Classic Country!
BILL STEVENSON: In over 50 years as a musician, Bill recorded for Elektra Records while still in his teens, opened for the Doors, backed up John Lee Hooker, performed and recorded in bands behind some of Canada’s best loved musicians. He has hosted his own National radio series for CBC. He has been a contributing side man to multi-award winning albums by Garrett Mason, David Myles, James Hill, Thom Swift, Hot Toddy Trio and includes his own win with a 2008 ECMA for Jazz/Blues Recording (For The Record).
BETTY BELMORE: With over 45 years experience in Canada’s music industry, singer/songwriter Betty Belmore lends her soulful intimacy to a repertoire of new and old. Whether obscure old-time, blues and jazz gems, honky-tonk yodels or contemporary folk songs, her voice reflects her rich, story telling heritage and finds a home. She’s performed and recorded with Jesse Winchester, Gene MacLellan, Stan Rogers, Denny Doherty, Peter Rowan, Flaco Jiminez and Bill Monroe. She is particularly known for her ear in harmony singing and reviving rare, old songs from the roots of early country, blues and old-time music of North America by giving them new life with unique harmonies and instrumentation.
TOM EASLEY: Bassist, composer, and educator Tom Easley has earned a reputation as one of Eastern Canada’s finest jazz bassists. Two-time East Coast Music Award Winner, Maple Blues Winner and multiple award nominee, Tom co-lead the music group Hot Toddy for a decade; co-producing seven CDs and performing at major jazz and blues festivals all across Canada, Europe and the United States. Tom is also a member of the award winning group Nine Steps.
ALAN JEFFRIES has been called one of the best guitar players in Nova Scotia by the likes of JP Cormier, and his band is celebrated as one of the best Bluegrass bands in the biz. A resident of Annapolis Royal, Alan tours with David Myles and is well-known to audiences worldwide. He was named the 2005 Atlantic Canada Bluegrass and Oldtime Music Association’s Bluegrass Guitar Player of the Year. He recently returned to his roots to launch his solo career and debut album, Coffee ‘til Midnight.
