Home to the only summer contemporary dance festival in Nova Scotia, FODAR is ranked as one of the major dance festivals in the country. Over its five seasons, the Festival has steadily expanded its dance presentations as well as its audience and has put the historic town of Annapolis Royal on the Canadian dance map.
PROGRAM 1
MR. PINHEAD – A FODAR remount of Award Winning Choreographer Randy Glynn’s entertaining story of a young ballroom dancer, his overbearing parents and his journey to ultimate redemption. Featuring an all Nova Scotia Cast.
VARIOUS CONCERT – Toronto’s highly physical, intricate, and compelling dance company Throwdown Collective makes its first appearance in Atlantic Canada with this dynamic, and highly athletic piece. A DORA Award-Winner.
SKY DANCERS: BRIDGES – Drawing on traditional and contemporary Indigenous dance, Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo’s searing work brings the story of the 1907 Quebec Bridge Disaster to life, and traces the far-reaching impact of this catastrophe that killed 33 Mohawk ironworkers from the community of Kahnawake.
