Tammachat Natural Textiles is proud to participate in Culture Days, a free national grassroots arts and culture event that is being celebrated in every province and territory in Canada this September.
Tammachat Natural Textiles' Fibre Fest is a free one-day event where you can learn about the artistic weaving and natural dyeing traditions of women in rural Thailand and Laos. At 2 pm, join the slideshow/talk and go on a visual tour to meet these artisans with Tammachat co-founder Alleson Kase as she introduces them using co-founder Ellen Agger's stunning photographs. Learn how village-based sericulture is still practiced to produce traditional, organic silk yarns. Talk about fair trade and community development half a globe away.
All day, explore an exhibition of handwoven, eco-friendly fashion accessories, home décor, clothing and fabric. Go "ethical shopping" to support these fast-disappearing artisanal traditions.
