Swingology presents the Under Paris Skies CD Release Tour. Nova Scotia’s classic gypsy swing band is taking to the road to celebrate the launch of our second CD, which has been nominated for a 2010 Music Nova Scotia award. Our first CD Swingology was selected as Music Nova Scotia Jazz Recording of the Year in 2008 and also received an ECMA nomination.
Our music recreates Paris of the 1930s, when guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli formed the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. This great band infused the swing music of the era with the sounds of the gypsy camps and the rowdy Parisian dance halls to create a unique style unmatched for its driving rhythm, inventiveness and excitement.
