“The smell of money.” That’s what Big Pork calls the stench of pig waste in the air in eastern North Carolina, where much of the world’s bacon and barbecue is made. But to Elsie Herring and others who live near the state’s giant pig factories, the revolting odour is a call to battle against generations of injustice.
USA, 2022, 84 minutes
Director: Shawn Bannon
Distributor: Beyond the Pines
SCREENING WITH THE SHORT FILM:
Invisible
Invisible follows two undercover investigators, “Emily” and “Sarah” (names changed to protect their identities), on a pig farm investigation in Europe, offering the viewer an unprecedented glimpse into a world that is deliberately and painstakingly covert.
