Event in Room: ARTSPLACE Studio (upstairs, not wheelchair accessible)
Stricken by the pain of war in her home country, a Ukrainian Canadian filmmaker sought solace telling the stories of lives it has shattered.
Meet families from Kyiv, Mariupol and Bucha, and their accounts of horrors experienced on their journey to safety in Canada.
With breathtaking scenic shots from pre-war Ukraine and exclusive footage of war-torn cities and towns, "Ukraine: One Life at a Time" provides a heart-wrenching view of the conflict.
Making this film was a life changing experience for filmmaking partners and old friends, Ethan Neville and Olesya Shyvikova.
“In February 2022, I was in a lot of pain. Ethan pushed me out of my comfort zone to make a film about the war and the Ukrainian refugees coming to Canada,” said Shyvikova.
If any war documentary is ever able to break your heart open and fill it back with hope, "Ukraine: One Life at a Time" is the one.
