The Halifax Camerata Singers will perform Baltic Landscapes will features choral music by composers whose roots are in countries near the Baltic Sea, including Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, and Latvia. Artistic Director Jeff Joudrey says the musical traditions of this region have created a wealth of innovative music.
Featured composers include Einojuhani Rautavaara (Finland), Knut Nystedt (Norway), Imant Raminsh (Latvia–Canada), Vytautas Miškinis (Lithuania), Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (Poland), and Urmas Sisask (Estonia). These innovative composers have shown the world new ways to use the voice in choral music, stretching the boundaries of possibility and challenging both singers and audiences. Their influence is being felt all over the choral world.
