For ages 12 to 17.
The workshop is is designed to introduce ways of playing and imagining theatre creation. The exploration is primarily physical in its approach to character creation and in identifying natural instincts for play. There is a focus on freedom through improvisation and accessing a natural pleasure to play and invent. This workshop culminates with short pieces of theatre created by the participants that could be used as starting points for scenes or fuller productions.
Participants should bring clean indoor footwear and a water bottle.
The workshop is free but space is limited. Registration is required.
ABOUT ANN-MARIE KERR
Ann-Marie is an award-winning theatre director, actor, mentor and teacher. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally.

Festival. She currently teaches at Fountain School of the Arts and Neptune Theatre; has taught at National Arts Centre, Soulpepper
Theatre Company, National Theatre School, Globe Theatre. She is a 2022 Siminovitch Prize finalist; winner of Dora Mavor Moore and Robert
Merritt awards; and the inaugural winner of the Gina Wilkinson Award for Female Directors. With Susan Leblanc she was a NS Masterworks
Finalist 2012.
THE NEXT GEN THEATRE PROJECT is an initiative of King’s Theatre that includes free workshops for both adults and youth to build on the community’s passion for creating theatre. The aim is to celebrate diversity, resilience & belonging in Kespukwitk. The project is supported by Canadian Heritage’s Celebration and Commemoration Program, Reopening Fund.
