Sparkle Dance Academy and King’s Theatre’s Next Gen Break Dance program are collaborating to bring a showcase of youth performance!
Sparkle Dancers will share collaborative self choreographed group pieces to close off their spring dance session. Special guest DJ Mystic Nic will be spinning world beats for the Break Dancers as they highlight their new skills.
With Bollywood, Jazz, Contemporary, Bellydance, Breakdancing and an EPIC dance battle – this is a chance to marvel and celebrate self expression, organic dance improy and the inspirational youth creativity in our local communities.
Proceeds will support the Clementsvale Playground project, Sparkle Dance’s Youth-in-Arts scholarship fund, and King’s Theatre’s FrontRowYouth initiative. There will also be opportunity to contribute to a Youth-in-Arts scholarship fund, which will be awarded in May. Prizes can be purchased for $5-10, cash on hand to show support for the scholarship fund is encouraged.

DJ Mystik Nic is deeply passionate about how much music can hold and inspire. Music is such a huge factor in cultivating our internal and external environments and the role of the DJ is to cultivate that environment. Nic witness’ herself and the audience in order to take you on a beautiful journey through the depths of your subconscious all the way to the cosmos.
Dance Instructor Wendy Goudie created Sparkle Dance Academy in 2001 in BC Focused on World Dance, this performance school has enjoyed a successful 20+ years in BC, with several locations. The school’s dancers have performed throughout Canada, and internationally in Greece, Thailand, France, Australia, and India. She has received many acknowledgements such as Okanagan Arts Awards – Contribution to Dance in 2012, Penticton Arts Council Dance Award 2012 & 2016. Wendy was named Arts Educator of the Year in 2018. Wendy has performed and taught Bollywood Bellydance throughout Canada. In 2018 she completed a month long performance and workshop tour in North India. She was a invited to perform as a finalist on the dance show “Indian Icon” in 2019. Now settled in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Sparkle Dance has programs on each coast. Wendy is passionate about teaching youth life skills through the art of non-competitive performance.
THE NEXT GEN THEATRE PROJECT is an initiative of King’s Theatre that includes free workshops for both adults and youth to build on the community’s passion for creating theatre. The aim is to celebrate diversity, resilience & belonging in Kespukwitk. The project is supported by Canadian Heritage’s Celebration and Commemoration Program, Reopening Fund.
