Join Climate Circles for our monthly meeting where we support local climate action of all kinds. Climate Circles is a space for community connection, gathering, local action groups to work together, workshops, learning, and more.
This meeting brings with it a special offering from Music in Communities director Kim Barlow! Kim will host a Songs for the Earth: Music & Climate Activism workshop and experience!
Join us. All welcome. Whether you have joined Climate Circles before or not! It is an open space for all to join as they desire.
We will have a meeting with updates, discussion and some planning followed by the bulk of our time together engaging in song with Kim. If you know Kim, you know this is a real treat and should be a lot of fun! We hope this unique offerings helps bolster some energy, inspire joy and provides a special experience that we hope to welcome more of.
Please let us know if you plan to come so we can best plan with Kim! Let us know here: https://forms.gle/7z6qdwM1tVLmM2488
Bring an instrument if you like. Open to all in our Climate Circles network & beyond, no musical experience necessary at all. Any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
About the workshop:
The Earth needs all the human advocates it can get, including musical advocates. In this workshop we'll listen to, sing and play some of the great love songs to Mother Earth through the decades, from Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi to Billie Eilish's All the Good Girls Go to Hell. Then, with ukuleles, our voices, and any other instruments you want to bring, we will tackle our own climate grief and channel it into song. Songwriting- and teaching-veteran, and Music In Communities director, Kim Barlow will guide the group on this musical adventure so it will be relaxed and fun, as we explore our musical nature and bring our voices together for the planet.
This workshop is a sample of what Music In Communities will be offering for their Every Day is Earth Day events. For more info about these events, visit www.musicincommunities.com or contact info@musicincommunities.com
