Join us Live at Lunch with MICHAEL ROBERTSON & ALEXA JAFFURS!
Michael Robertson is known locally for his blues guitar work but his background in historic music runs much deeper and wider. Facebook Friends are regularly treated to selections of world music from his massive collection of 78 rpm records.
Alexa Jaffurs played old time Appalachian square dance music, (mostly on banjo) until she moved to Edmonton, where the many styles of Canadian fiddling lured her into spending more time on the fiddle.
The two started playing together a few years ago, exploring overlaps in the very different branches of pre-radio music each favoured. Reaching back to the times before country, blues and bluegrass went their separate ways, Robertson & Jaffurs have developed a repertoire of music from the 20s and 30s — tunes born in hard times, the down-home country, old time, ragtime, and minstrel tunes still speak to us today.
King’s Theatre is committed to making live performances accessible to all audiences. If cost is a barrier please contact our Box Office for Bursary Tickets: [email protected] or 902-532-7704.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by a guardian when attending a King’s Theatre event.
