Altered Vision/Altered Sound is an interactive exploration between the visual and the audible within the human experience. Humanity has shaped both physical and sonic landscapes over time with change now occurring at a rapid pace. Our world is now more “built-up” than ever; our senses assaulted with consequences not yet understood. With much of the world’s human population living in towns and cities, many have lost touch with wilderness and rural life. As we plummet headlong into a virtual world, will we no longer recognize the planet we evolved from?

Visitors will be able to select various soundscapes while viewing the artist’s paintings, experiencing the interplay between the senses. At the GridBlocked station, visitors will manipulate wooden blocks on a grid creating their own sound world from audio processed from both natural and man-made sources.
