Coleen Davidson is currently working on a project entitled Fabric of Community for an upcoming Summer 2024 solo exhibition at the Ice House Gallery in Tatamagouche, NS.
The work comprises large silk panels in a variety of sizes (42”-94” long x 22”-44” wide), which tell the story of interconnectedness between humans, nature, wildlife and home.
“Now more than ever with the current climate crises we need to gain a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness not just on an intellectual level but on a soul and heart level.”
Davidson feels strongly these relationships are critical for our collective survival. The purpose of the residency is to create 6 to 8 silk panels painted by local community members. Ideally, those members will have participated in the Creating Joy Workshop. This would be a gently guided, collaborative process. No experience in art is required – only a willingness to be open to experiment and play.
Each silk panel will be shows at ARTSPLACE during the residency, as well as form part of the exhibit at the Ice House gallery.
