ART JOURNALING: A creative practice for mental wellness
Facilitated by Art Therapist, Jaime Lee Lightle BA, DTATI, RCT-C

DESCRIPTION:
Reflective art journaling is an art-based technique that elicits personal insight, increases self-understanding, promotes creativity, and increases self-knowledge.
During this workshop the participants will:
-Uncover their creative side
-Be introduced to a variety of art mediums
-Explore art-journaling techniques
-Personalize their very own art journal
-Gain a supportive network with other participants
TIMELINE:
Introduction to Art Journaling (75 minutes)
What are the benefits (Why art journal?)
- Introduction to art mediums
- Personalize your journal
- Prompts (intention, quiet the mind, visualization)
Nutrition break and socialize, gallery walk (30 minutes)
Begin journaling with creative prompts (75 minutes)
MATERIALS PROVIDED FOR YOU:
-Journal
-Modge podge
-Collage materials (images and paper)
-Crayons/oil pastels
-Jesso
-Markers/gel pens
-Pencils (coloured, watercolour and regular)
-Scissors
-Rulers
-Brushes
-Snacks/drinks
MATERIALS TO BRING:
-Apron or appropriate clothing
-(Optional) Bring images or other collage materials

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Jaime Lee has been working in the field as an art therapy both as a student and graduate for over 5 years and has been an advocate for art therapy since 2009 after meeting her husband, a CAF Veteran and benefactor of Art Therapy.
Jaime Lee has a passion for collaborating in community-based projects providing art therapy to the rural communities in the Annapolis area. Jaime Lee has worked with a variety of populations in a multitude of settings from Long Term Care institutions to Substance Use Recovery facilities. Jaime Lee is currently involved in developing and running Art Therapy programs for Active and Retired CAF Veterans and their families in both Ontario and Nova Scotia.
