Whether you’re new to contemporary dance or a committed fan, you’ll be drawn into Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal’s dazzling MainStage performances. FODAR presents two different programs alternating over 3 days.
PROGRAM TWO
ONE STEP AT A TIME - A tap dance legend, he has rhythm in his soul, power in his performance and the passion of his ancestors in his heart. Travis is based in Toronto but whether it’s Shanghai, Dusseldorf, Paris, or New York, he always leaves audiences spellbound.
BLUR - A duet created and performed by Halifax-based Marrin Jessome and Issac Abriel, this vanguard piece is a sensual challenge of gender roles dissolving stereotypes through virtuosic and highly physical movement. WHAT WE CARRY - An Eastern Canada premiere created and performed by award-winning Montreal-based Mohawk choreographer Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo (A’nó:wara Dance Theatre). This deeply personal work explores the memories that indigenous women hold in mind, body, and spirit.
THE MAN IN BLACK - This all-time FODAR audience favourite returns! Critically hailed as “The alchemy of dance and song”, the production is choreographed by the masterful James Kudelka and performed by the stellar dancers of Citadel + Compagnie (Toronto). It draws from country-western dance styles and celebrates American working-class grit and the man whose voice embodied it - Johnny Cash
