Cultivated Threads is an exhibition that delves into the multifaceted nature of memory through the diverse practices of Nancy Cole, Negar Devine-Tajgarden, Jessie Fraser, and Maria Simmons.
Dates: June 1 - July 20
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 1, 12-2pm
Gallery Hours: Tue-Fri 10am-4pm, Sat 11am-2pm
Cole's intricate embroidery evokes a sense of displacement and nostalgia, while Devine-Tajgarden confronts the lasting impact of personal and collective trauma through her woven tapestries. Fraser's material-heavy processes capture the fleeting essence of memories, revealing the delicate balance between preservation and erasure. Simmons explores memory as a dynamic process of fermentation and transformation, creating immersive environments where artifacts undergo metamorphosis. Together, these artists offer a compelling exploration of memory's complexities, showcasing how different processes can illuminate the ever-shifting landscape of recollection.
Join us in an exploration of these distinct artistic visions, where memory is not just a static relic of the past, but a living, breathing force that shapes our present and future.
