Sparkle Dance Presents A Multicultural Celebration!

An interactive show for an audience of all ages led by Wendy Goudie. Expect to clap, stomp and dance in your seat while Sparkle Dance campers share their excitement and celebration for world dance!

Fourteen youth, ages 6-17 years in age, will be immersing in various dance styles from around the globe, and in just one week, campers will put together an educational show highlighting dance styles such as Bollywood, Bhangra, Greek Belly dance, Spanish Fusion, and Salsa, and more.

This show wraps up a busy camp week with the group creating the show in just 5 days!

The show also brings special guest Diksha Aggarwal to the King’s Theatre Stage.

A 27-year-old immigrant from India, Diksha has called Canada home for over eight years. After arriving in 2016 to pursue a childhood educator program, she now runs her own home daycare, as a permanent resident.

Dance has been her passion since grade 4, and she had the privilege of performing in numerous stage shows throughout her school years. She trained in Indian classical dance, specifically Kathak, for two years during grades 11 and 12. Dance is a beloved activity that brings her relaxation, stress relief, confidence, and physical fitness.

Diksha was born with a treatable eye disorder called retinal pigmentosa, which progressively affects vision over time. Despite being fully independent when she arrived in Canada, her condition has rapidly progressed in recent years, leaving her unable to read, recognize signs and symbols, or even distinguish faces in a crowd. Her journey thus far has been made possible solely due to the unwavering support of family. Her two younger brothers, mother, and father have been her pillars of strength, providing emotional, financial, and mental support at every step. She is eternally grateful for their love and encouragement.

Diksha will be performing a Haryanvi dance from the Indian province of Haryana, as well as an Indian Punjabi dance, which was Choreographed by Ruchika Malik, Director of the Ruchika’s Rhythm Rockers in Halifax.
