Speaking is a collection of works that use methods of floriography, folklore, and botany, to explore messages that are difficult to say out loud. Research into different plants, their properties, and uses was the foundation for these works. In each, multiple plants tell of stories, emotions, and events that have shaped my life.

Dayna (she/her) is a white/cis mixed media artist born in the Ottawa Valley who predominately works in sculpture and painting. She studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design University where she obtained her BFA in Drawing and Painting. Dayna often explores her own neurodivergence in her art and looks to various themes of identity through the grounding visual imagery of nature. Dayna currently lives in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia.
