Art and Socio-Cultural Awareness

*Seeking artists to take part in conversation, see below.

Curtis Botham’s exhibit Fishers (on now until March 29 at ARTSPLACE) features large-scale charcoal drawings that focus on the fishing industry in Nova Scotia. His work invites reflection on the value and significance of this vocation in our material world.

You are invited to participate in an open conversation with Curtis on the closing day of his exhibition. Please join us to look at the myriad ways that art can highlight social and cultural issues.

ARTSPLACE board member and artist Ted Lind, will share some examples of artists, past and present, that have attempted to heighten our awareness.

Open and free discussion will be encouraged.

*If you are an artist who views your work as a means to address relevant topics in today’s world - the environment, inequality, prejudice, or whatever is important to you - you are invited to bring in a work or sample (or photo of your work) to share and be part of conversation.

Please contact Ted Lind, if you want to share your work ([email protected]).
