Workshop / Class

The masterclass weekend begins on Saturday morning at 10 am (shuttle bus available from Halifax) and people coming from out of town can request to come in on Friday evening. Accommodations are our bunkhouses and the fee includes overnight beds and delicious food. You can choose to stay elsewhere, but there is no reduction in fee.
Come and explore Shakespeare with one of the world's great directors, in a retreat setting at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts. An adult workshop for those who love Shakespeare, teachers of the Bard, and actors at all stages in their careers, the work focuses intensively on the structure of Shakespeare's verse and prose, teaching actors how to unlock the meaning and emotion of the texts through an understanding and mastery of their form and rhythm. This is achieved through practical exercises designed to develop a physical relationship with the metre and structure of Shakespeare's writing and an equally crucial emphasis on spontaneous playing: over the last twenty years Mr. Carroll has developed countless exercises to develop listening and reacting to the text, as well as natural and unpredictable speaking.
