Escape to Ross Creek this fall for a unique and creative experience in one of our Weekend Workshop Retreats- and join the incredible Sarah Sears, who will be teaching you how to craft your own jewelry!

WEEKEND BREAKDOWN
In this unforgettable weekend workshop you will make 3-5 sterling silver rings (depending on the complexity of your design) between the two days. You will work with different thicknesses of sterling silver ring stock and adding a variety of different textures to the bands.
DAY ONE
Start by sizing your fingers with ring sizers and learning to use calipers to measure and cutting your lengths out of silver. You’ll then learn how to file and bend your ring blanks into ring forms.
After lunch you will be ready to start soldering! After taking in a demonstration, each person will get the opportunity to try it out (Sarah is happy to help with this step if people are feeling uncomfortable with the small flame). You will then get to the most fun part- hammering out your rings onto ring mandrels over large wooden stumps. At this stage you can add texture to the rings with different hammers and add your stone setting or small shapes.
DAY TWO
Each person will get a chance to try out sandcasting using found objects and recycled bronze. This will be a one on one activity so participants can continue to work/ finish up their ring designs while waiting for their turn.
This rejuvenating and creative weekend is not to be missed (plus, what a perfect opportunity to make homemade gifts for the holidays)!

Sarah Sears is a jewelry designer/metalsmith based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her jewelry and objects are inspired by architectural elements and the earths elements. Patina on copper, bronze and brass is one of her most recent explorations. Each piece is built to last and weather better with the passing of time.
