Escape to Ross Creek this winter for a unique and creative experience in one of our Weekend Workshop Retreats(April 10 & 11)- including the incredible Sara Hartland-Rowe, who will be bringing you along on an exploration of Portraiture!
-
WEEKEND BREAKDOWN
This workshop will address the fascinating and endless question of figurative description. Using ourselves and other workshop participants as subjects, attendees will work with very traditional processes such as gridding and transferring, working from a generalized idea of proportion, and working with value (black, white and grey) in the production of charcoal drawings and a grisaille portrait painting (acrylic). As well, we will explore more playful processes including blind contour and exquisite corpse and collage. By the end of the weekend, workshop participants will have a roster of possible approaches to portraiture as well as a portfolio of portrait and self-portrait drawings and paintings.
Experience is emphatically not required as participants are encouraged to approach the topic from any level.
