Spend the weekend relaxing, enjoying nature, practicing yoga, and learning hard and soft outdoor skills with Jamie MacLean. Feed your body with food grown at Ross Creek, and nourish your relationship with the seasonal changes. You can expect a morning and evening Yoga practice to prepare your body for the movements used outside. Workshops may include hiking, shelter building and ephemeral art, orienteering, fire building, creating notions and lotions with beeswax from our hives, art workshops, and plenty of free time to rest and practice self care. Itineraries are subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control including weather and terrain conditions.
Each session is all about giving yourself time and new creative skills in a beautiful natural setting, with no previous experience necessary. You can come for the whole weekend, with bonfires, provided meals, and overnight accommodation, or simply join us for daytime workshop sessions (please reach out about attending one day only). Join us for an incredible weekend of creativity in this retreat setting, with wonderful food, self care, and outdoor skill development. All materials will be included in this hands-on experience.
Join us on the North Mountain and stay in our newly renovated farmhouse or glamping cabins for an unforgettable weekend of art, community, and wholesome homemade meals using local ingredients (many right from Ross Creek's own gardens)!
Registration is open and spaces are limited- why not plan your fall retreat today? www.artscentre.ca/retreats2021
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
"Hello! I have been involved in outdoor education since graduating from Trent University with a BSc in Environmental Sciences and Biology. I have worked in various forms of outdoor ed and making it accessible to communities.
I have a strong love for plants and see the benefit of using natural discoveries to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. Food system education is a growing field that has a huge impact on future generations. By engaging youth in the process of growing, tending and cooking their food allows them to see the value of nutrition in food justice. It sparks an interest to make change and become stewards of the land, by acting locally and sustainably!
In my spare time, I enjoy going on bike adventures, playing roller derby, knitting warm things and admiring rocks and soils."
