James C E Lightle (Cpl Ret’d)
A native of Port Hope Ontario, James C E Lightle began his military career in December 2000 as a Combat Engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces. Through his exceptional skills and dedication, he quickly climbed the ranks to become a Corporal, with specialized training in Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and a Combat Diver.
Unfortunately, while on patrol in Afghanistan, James' vehicle was struck by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in 2006. The incident left him with multiple physical injuries, including a shattered ankle that ended his military career. Along with his physical injuries, James also suffered from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) after returning to Canada. During his treatment, James discovered photography and painting, which helped him cope with his emotional trauma. In 2015, he completed the Sculpture program at Haliburton School of the Arts, which further ignited his passion for art.
Now a resident of Round Hill Nova Scotia, James is an accomplished a self-published author and visual artist who uses his creative instincts to write stories and capture representations of the world around him.
