Talking Up, Talking Down, Talking All Around.
JonArno Lawson, a poet for all ages, will read from various works including Down at the Bottom of the Bottom of the Box (Porcupine’s Quill 2012) illustrated by Alec Dempster, and talk about writing and his new wordless book Sidewalk Flowers, illustrated by Sidney Smith (Groundwood Books—a 2014 Bologna Children’s Book Fair favourite, launching in Halifax Feb. 28, 2015). —Canada Council Funded Tour
Three time winner of the Lion and the Unicorn Award for Excellence in North American Children's Poetry (A Voweller’s Bestiary, 2009, and Black Stars in a White Night Sky, 2007, Down at the Bottom of the Bottom of the Box, 2012), Lawson will also be reading at NKEC, Wolfville and Gaspereau Schools.
Welcome to the world of JonArno Lawson, where sound rules supreme. It’s a bizarre world, where wolves live on the moon, bears inhabit the sun and bleating lambs get stuck in traffic jams. Here Sleeping Beauty is an insomniac, Little Red Riding Hood is a wolf and Snow White just needed a friend to tell her to be wary of strangers.
