Tina Keeper will speak to the Mawio'mi as the Keynote Speaker for the Monday evening event. She is a Winnipeg based media producer & is president of Kistikan Pictures. Tina was formerly an actor, perhaps best known for her work on the hit CBC series North of 60.
Tina also served as a Liberal Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Churchill, Manitoba from 2006–08.
She has a BA Theatre from the University of Winnipeg and has trained at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre, the Banff Centre & the Sundance Institute.
Tina serves as a trustee of the Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Foundation, a member of the Manitoba Hydro board, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet board, Onscreen Manitoba Board, and the advisory Committee to Urban Shaman Gallery. She is also a member of the Order of Manitoba, Canadians for a New Partnership, and a recipient of an Aboriginal Achievement Award, a Gemini Award, & a 2014 Canadian Civil Liberties Association award for Public Engagement.
Tina Keeper will also be participating in the Youth Dialogue on Sunday, September 20, 5–7:30pm.
