Music
An All-Beethoven Sonata Program, performed by Robert Uchida, violin, and Peter Allen, piano.
“Beethoven to Die For” The three sonatas are: Sonata No. 3, Opus 12, Sonata No. 4, Opus 23, and Sonata No. 9 Opus 47 – the “Kreutzer” – well known as a test of the technical and musical virtuosity of both violinist and pianist. Mr. Uchida, concertmaster of Symphony Nova Scotia and an increasingly popular concert soloist, and Mr. Allen, perhaps Nova Scotia’s most highly- regarded resident concert pianist, are well up to this test.
This free concert is the sixth classical chamber music concert in the 2009-10 series. Sunday Music in the Garden Room is sponsored and managed by members of the Associated Alumni of Acadia University. Concerts occur in the Garden Room of the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre, which provides this space free of charge. This annual series of classical chamber music concerts, performed almost entirely by professional musicians, entered its eighth year in January, 2010.
